Cambridge English CELTA

The CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) course is the original "TEFL" course. The CELTA provides initial training leading to the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. It is intended for those without previous experience who wish to enter the profession and for teachers with no previous training in this field. Many experienced teachers also take the course in order to gain a qualification that is internationally recognised. Success in the certificate has enabled many candidates to obtain their first teaching position: the course is highly regarded by employers as providing sound initial training and a strong basis from which to develop as a teacher of English.

At Flying Teachers CELTA courses are face-to-face together with some online training. We believe that it is easier to transition from face-to-face to online teaching rather than vice versa and this means that teachers leave the course with a broader range of skills.

CELTA is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English language teachers. The Cambridge CELTA has been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Cambridge also works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of CELTA globally.

Ideally you should: 1. have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education, 2. be aged 20 or over, and 3. have a standard of English which will enable you to teach at a range of levels.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Cambridge English CELTA certificate, issued by Cambridge English. The qualification is valid for life.

Learning goal:

Cambridge English CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)

Course content:

Daily training course on modern English teaching methodology, including how to teach vocabulary, reading, listening, grammar, phonology, speaking and writing in a student-centred and communicative way. The course includes six hours of assessed teaching practice with real pre- and upper-intermediate adult students. During the course, trainees have to complete four written assignments.

The final grade is based on both the teaching practice grades and on the four assignments.

The course is suitable for:

For people with little or no previous teaching experience who wish to acquire an internationally recognized certificate in English teaching. The course is also for people who have been teaching English without a qualification. Non-native trainees need to show that their level of language competence is equivalent to high CEFR C1 (Pass B or Pass A graded)/C2 level.

Notes:

Flying Teachers has been organizing CELTA courses since 2002 and we hire and have hired many English teachers through CELTA.

More than 1000 people have completed their CELTA course with us.
