General Terms and Conditions Flying Teachers GmbH

Last revision 2026

1. Scope of application

These General Terms and Conditions apply to all courses offered by Flying Teachers GmbH, unless the parties have agreed otherwise in writing. Any terms and conditions of the customer that deviate from or supplement these General Terms and Conditions are not binding on Flying Teachers GmbH, even if Flying Teachers GmbH does not object to them or if the customer declares that they wish to book the language courses only under their own terms.

2. Bookings

2.1 Conclusion of contract

Bookings may be made in person or in writing. Booked courses become legally binding upon dispatch of the written course confirmation.

2.2 Course content and scope

The booking confirmation bindingly specifies the type, content and scope of the course, the course locations, the course fee, the course duration and the teaching materials.

3. Course fee

3.1 Payment terms

The course fee may be paid in cash or by credit card. Participants who pay by invoice must settle the amount within 20 days of the invoice date, unless a different payment deadline has been expressly agreed in writing with the invoice recipient. In the event of late payment, a reminder fee of CHF 20.00 will be charged.

3.2 Teaching materials

The costs of teaching materials are not included in the course fee and will be charged to the customer separately. For teaching materials obtained by Flying Teachers GmbH from booksellers on behalf of the course participant, a handling surcharge of CHF 9.00 per copy will be charged. The books are non-refundable but may be exchanged for others if they have not been used (e.g. for a different level or a different language).

3.3 Examination fees

Fees and other costs incurred in connection with taking an examination are not included in the course fee and will be charged to the customer separately.

3.4 Course premises / equipment

Any costs incurred in connection with the use of the course premises and/or equipment shall be borne by the customer.

3.5 Reservation

If fewer registrations are received for a group course or a seminar than the minimum required (unless explicitly stated otherwise, this is 4 participants), Flying Teachers reserves the right to reduce the number of hours proportionally. Courses are conducted with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 14 participants.

4. Course locations / course format / equipment / dates

4.1 Semester courses

For semester or group courses, the determination of the course locations, any required equipment (such as computers) and the timetable is agreed individually with the customer. The course locations, specified equipment and dates listed in the booking confirmation may only be changed by mutual agreement between the customer and Flying Teachers GmbH.

4.2 Group courses

The placement test is mandatory (beginners are excluded).

All group courses are designed in hybrid format. When registering, participants choose their preferred format (on-site and/or online). The course locations cannot be freely chosen by the participants; this decision is made by Flying Teachers. Courses may take place at the following locations:

  • Löwenstrasse 20, 8001 Zurich
  • Beckenhofstrasse 6, 8006 Zurich
  • Schaffhauserstrasse 235–241, 8057 Zurich
  • Elias Canetti Strasse 7A, 8050 Zurich

For daily intensive courses, the course days cannot be rescheduled.

4.3 Individual lessons

In Flying Teachers courses, the customer may specify their preferences regarding the location and time of an individual lesson. Provided that the customer’s request is received by Flying Teachers GmbH at least 48 hours before the desired date during business hours, Flying Teachers GmbH will endeavour to provide a teacher at the requested time and location. Booked individual lessons may be rescheduled up to 24 hours before the lesson, provided a replacement date is specified.

5. Teachers

The teachers assigned to conduct the courses or lessons are appointed by Flying Teachers GmbH. Subject to any other written agreement between Flying Teachers GmbH and the customer, the customer has no entitlement to the assignment of a specific teacher. A change of teacher or course location may occur during the course.

6. Cancellation

6.1 Semester / group courses

Booked courses are binding. Any statutory right of withdrawal remains unaffected. After expiry of any statutory withdrawal period, or if the course begins before the expiry of the withdrawal period, courses may no longer be cancelled. If the customer nevertheless cancels, an administrative fee of CHF 150.00 per course will be charged; no refund of course fees will be made.

Requests to postpone a course to a later date must be submitted in writing at least 14 calendar days before the course start date. Late requests do not entitle the customer to a postponement or refund.

In justified exceptional cases (e.g. prolonged illness with a medical certificate), the institution may voluntarily and without any legal obligation offer an alternative solution.

6.2 Individual lessons

Booked individual or private lessons are binding, non-cancellable and non-refundable. A package of 10 lessons must be taken within 12 weeks from the start date. Any lessons not taken within this period shall expire without compensation.
Responsibility for arranging appointments in good time lies with the customer. The institution provides appointments subject to its capacity.
In justified exceptional cases, the institution may voluntarily and without any legal obligation grant an extension of the validity period or offer an alternative solution.

6.3 Monthly billing

For courses with monthly billing, a notice period of 3 months applies. The respective course must be cancelled in writing (support form, e-mail or letter).

7. Rights to course materials

All course materials, teaching aids and documents produced by Flying Teachers GmbH constitute the intellectual property of Flying Teachers GmbH. Any use outside Flying Teachers GmbH courses is prohibited without the prior written consent of Flying Teachers GmbH. This applies in particular to use in other language courses, reproduction, translation and processing in electronic systems.

8. Place of jurisdiction and applicable law

The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising out of or in connection with contracts between Flying Teachers GmbH and the customer is Zurich. Swiss law shall apply.
