Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education. Non-native English speakers are welcome and must demonstrate a high level of English (CEFR C1/C2 or IELTS 7.5+).
Course Structure
Course Structure
The CELTA course is an intensive blend of theory and practice. Key components include:
- Input Sessions: Interactive workshops on teaching methodology, language skills, and lesson planning.
- Teaching Practice: Six hours of assessed teaching practice, working with classes at two levels of ability.
- Feedback & Reflection: Constructive feedback sessions following your teaching practice to consolidate learning.
- Written Assignments: Four practical assignments focusing on adult learning, language system of English, language skills and classroom teaching.
The course is offered full-time (4-5 weeks intensive) or part-time (10-11 weeks).

- Complete the Application Form: This provides us with your background and reasons for applying.
- Complete a Pre-Interview Task: A short, practical task to assess your initial language awareness.
- Attend an Interview: This is conducted online or in person with a CELTA trainer to discuss your suitability and answer your questions.
If you are successful in your interview, you will be offered a place on the course. To secure your place, you will need to sign and return a formal training contract. Once we receive your signed contract, we will issue an invoice for the course fees.
Grading & Assessment
Grading & Assessment
CELTA is continuously assessed throughout the course; there is no final written exam. Candidates are graded on their hands-on teaching practice and their four written assignments. You will receive ongoing feedback from your trainers to help you improve. The final grade is awarded as a Pass, Pass B, or Pass A, reflecting your overall performance.
