The European Language Certificates are a system of language tests that are based on the Council of Europe's Framework of Reference for language learning. Different skills are tested in several languages at different levels. The exams are created on the basis of central tasks according to published criteria, organized across Europe according to uniform implementation regulations and centrally evaluated according to identical assessment criteria. The certificates are recognized worldwide.

Results are published 6-8 weeks after the exams. Candidates who have achieved a result of at least 60% in both parts of the exam are deemed to have passed.
