What to expect
Course Description:
You will learn about the pedagogical principles of the fide approach and apply them in practical settings. In doing so, you will plan, design, and evaluate scenario-based learning units and reflect on your teaching practices in order to further develop your instruction in a targeted manner.
Course content:
- fide’s pedagogical principles: in particular, relevance to everyday life, needs-based approach, and co-construction of the learning process
- Resources and tools of the fide system, available on the web portal
- Scenario-based pedagogy
- Tools for assessing learning needs
- Forms of internal differentiation
- Portfolio approach
- Various assessment opportunities and evaluation methods (self-assessment, peer assessment, external assessment; criteria- or indicator-based assessment, etc.)
The topics listed are intended as areas of focus and will be weighted and expanded upon depending on the course context.
Requirements:
- Skills and experience in adult education (as evidenced by the certificate “Conducting Learning Activities with Groups of Adults” (Ada ZA-DL) or by an equivalent qualification in accordance with the regulations).
- Module certificate for the module “Foreign and Second Language Didactics” or a proven equivalent qualification.
- Proven practical experience of at least 100 hours (60 minutes each) in second language instruction with migrants.
- Linguistic and metalinguistic competencies in the respective local official language that correspond to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or are equivalent to it.
- Understanding of the local colloquial language (dialect) and confirmation of this via self-declaration.
- Willingness to participate actively.
- For online modules: A camera and microphone must be available, in working order, and activated.
Scope of the course:
The module consists of 18 hours of classroom instruction and at least 40 hours of self-study. It is recommended that you teach a language course while taking the module. This allows you to apply what you have learned in a practical setting and helps you prepare your portfolio of competencies.
Modulattest:
To receive the module certificate, the following requirements must be met:
- 90% attendance on course days
- Demonstration of competence (planning, implementation, and evaluation of a scenario-based learning sequence) assessed as satisfactory by the module instructor
The module certificate is recognized by the fide office for six years from the date of issuance as a partial qualification for the “Language Course Instructor in the Field of Integration” certification.
