What to expect
Course Description
This training course is aimed at individuals who possess competencies and experience in adult education and work as language course instructors in the field of foreign and second language didactics across various contexts (e.g., integration, education, institutions). This module focuses on didactic-methodological approaches and specific techniques for action-oriented foreign and second language teaching, forms of internally differentiating and individualizing instruction, as well as activities that promote autonomous learning.
Learning Objective
You will plan, design, and reflect on action-oriented learning units and specifically promote the communicative competence of learners.
Course Content
- Didactics/methodology of action- and participant-oriented foreign and second language promotion, including task-based learning;
- Use of language learning resources;
- Most important characteristics of adult foreign and second language acquisition;
- Strategies and techniques for developing autonomous language learning;
- Language learning biography;
- Transfer orientation;
- Internal differentiation;
- Use of digital and analog media.
Requirements
- Competencies and experience in adult education (via the certificate "Conducted learning events with groups of adults" (AdA ZA-DL) or via equivalence according to regulations);
- Proven practical experience of at least 50 hours of 60 minutes each in second language teaching with migrants;
- Linguistic and metalinguistic competencies in the respective local official language corresponding to or equivalent to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR);
- Readiness for active participation;
- For online modules: Camera and microphone must be available, fully functional, and activated.
Study Volume
The module comprises 18 hours of contact learning time and at least 40 hours of self-study time. Leading a language course parallel to attending the module is recommended. This enables the practical implementation of the learning content and supports the creation of the proof of competence.
Module Certificate
To receive the module certificate, the following requirements must be met: 90% attendance on course days; A proof of competence assessed as fulfilled by the module lecturer (planning and didactic justification of a learning unit, including a description of the target group and integration into the course context); The module certificate is recognized by the fide secretariat for six years from the date of issue as a partial qualification for the qualification "Language course leader in the integration sector".
