For naturalisation in the Canton of Zurich, applicants must meet certain requirements. This includes proof of sufficient German language skills as well as basic knowledge of Switzerland and the Canton of Zurich.
Flying Teachers is an accredited test centre for conducting the Cantonal German Test (KDE) and the Basic Knowledge Test (GKT) as part of the naturalisation procedure in the Canton of Zurich.

Cantonal German Test (KDE) – Language proof for naturalisation
For naturalisation in the Canton of Zurich, sufficient German language skills must be demonstrated. These are assessed with the Cantonal German Test for naturalisation (KDE).
The test assesses the four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
The tasks are based on everyday situations, such as housing, work, family, media, or shopping.
To pass the test, the following language levels must be achieved:
- Listening and speaking: Level B1
- Reading and writing: Level A2

The Basic Knowledge Test covers various topics related to life in Switzerland and the Canton of Zurich, for example: history, politics, rights and responsibilities, society, work, education, and everyday coexistence.
